Course Content

This qualification is designed for job roles in the forest growing and management sector of the forest and forest products industry.

This qualification has seven employment pathways for typical operational environments of forest growing and management.

These are:

Arboriculture Technician Farm Forestry Technician

Forestry Technician Nursery Technician

Supervisor (Forestry Operations)

Tree Planter Silviculturalist

Assessment Process

Assessments consist of a set of theory questions and demonstration of set tasks operating the plant and equipment within the workplace for each elective unit

Course Outline

Training for this course is completed as a Qualification Certificate III in Forest Growing and Management FWP30116.

A training plan is prepared for each individual in conjunction with the business management to choose suitable elective units

Training is delivered using a combination of self-paced learning resources and worksite training utilising site supervisor’s skills and experience to assist with the program between LVTAC trainer visits.

The Qualification is delivered over a period of 12 months.

Applicants that are eligible for funding:

Victorian State Government funding under the Skills First Program is used to fund the course for eligible applicants.

Full Qualifications that are funded are free of charge so there is no cost. You can check your eligibility

Applicants that are not eligible for funding

Training is $100.00 per hour GST Exempt (a minimum of 3 hour blocks)

Assessment $300 GST Exempt

Travelling cost dependant on distance will be charged if outside of Latrobe Valley Region

Recognition of prior learning

(RPL if you already have prior worksite training or experience)

Process: You will be required to complete an RPL application form

All RPL applications require a skills demonstration to confirm competency

Duration- 3 Hours per unit

Cost $300.00 GST Exempt – plus a travelling cost may be applicable depending on the coupe location

Entry requirements

Students are required to:

  • have access to the machinery identified in the training plan
  • have the ability to attend all of the scheduled training
  • be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • provide their own steel toe capped boots and PPE.
  • have the ability to move around uneven terrain
  • have the ability to move around uneven terrain

Trainers Assessors

The trainer and assessor allocated to undertake your accreditations are accredited to operate forestry equipment and have worked in the industry so you can be assured that you will learn from highly qualified and experienced personnel

Support

You will be required to undertake a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment at enrolment. Support will be provided by our trainers and assessors if required, to assist you to achieve your goal
